Thank you for a great article. I would like to ask you to dig a bit deeper and free your mind: Is the two-state solution really possible with a society where up to 80% either supports or is indifferent about the rape of Palestinian prisoners?

Do you know what Zionism means in its simplest terms? It means Jews can go and claim land in Palestine. They’ve essentially taken God as a real estate agent and used Him to justify their supremacist colonial mindset.

After 10 months of genocide, these terrorists haven’t had a single debate on TV about the suffering in Gaza; instead, they openly discuss rape. These are not humans—they’re monsters.

When I return to a free Palestine in Nazareth, to my grand mother stolen gone, I won’t live near criminals and rapists. I hope you re think about the illusion of the two-state solution.

✌🏼🇵🇸

This is bad journalism and bad opinion. You are of course entitled to your own opinion, however misguided it might be, but you are not entitled to misrepresent, elide, or completely avoid important facts if you want to be a credible journalist. For one thing, there is no credible evidence at this point that a majority of the casualties are civilians and not Hamas people. And your claim that there is a simple solution to a decades-old conflict that the most powerful nations and the most experienced and able diplomats have not been able to solve is not merely naive. You should know better. It is simply laughable. Life would be simple if everybody were rational all the time.

Israel doesn't even claim that the 40k are Hamas, and they count every male over the age of like, 12 or something to be Hamas in their murder talies. Get a grip, everyone can see it. If this is still even up to date, there was only like one hospital left standing and American doctors that have gone to help have been saying for months they have no medical supplies due to the blockade and people are dying from injuries and illnesses they should otherwise be able to treat.

It's real rich you spend so much time denying their suffering when I just saw you on another post trying to gaslight a Palestinian American about the Democratic party being a welcoming place for all. If genocide denialists are at the table, genocide victims aren't welcome.

All wars are ugly and civilians die in all wars. Unlike Hamas, Israel doesn't target civilians and is not trying wipe out the Palestinian Arabs. 20% of Israeli citizens are Arab.

How it is it a war when the Palestinians are unarmed and don’t have an army? How is it a war when Israel is occupying both Gaza and the West Bank and under international law has to take care of the citizens thereon? how is it a war when international law allows armed uprising of occupied people against their occupiers? No one believes your shit anymore.

Hasbara fits you like poor suit. Israel kills civilians without a second thought. It even gang rapes them without prosecuting the rapists.

Over 40,000 killed in Gaza. Almost 20,000 were children and infants.

700 killed by renegade squatters in the illegally occupied West Bank sine 10/7 - outside the borders of Israel. The killers are never prosecuted.

Although as you know, I do not completely share your perspective Jordan, especially given the enormous complexities of the situation, yet again this is a very skillfully worded piece and as always beautifully written essay.

Of course you know that contrary to what nearly everyone is saying 'genocide' does *not* simply mean'killing a lot of people', even innocent people. If it did then e.g. Putin, Asad, the Ayotollahs, and indeed Hamas would also be guilty of genocide (and we can then start on 'big genocides' and 'little genocides' and the word loses all meaning except rhetorically).

Hamas in particular can be argued does indeed *aim* at genocide if the foundational Hamas Charter is to be believed, since it makes a virtue of killing Jews as such and seems to aim at their complete elimination. *That* of course would be genocide, but no one seems to be that bothered. 'By any means necessary', as the pro-Palestinian banners say. But I am sure you rightly deplore such rhetoric and genocidal aim.

And you know too that in the Israeli case there cannot be genocide properly speaking against Gazans because 'Gazan' is not a human genus, nor is there genocide against Arabs in Israel since plenty of Arabs live and work in Israel without being targeted in the way the Nazis targeted Jews (that really did become in the end a policy of genocide because it aimed at the simple elimination of Jews, a whole genus of humanity - death was the actual aim of the Nazis).

But then - I notice you sidestep actually using the word 'genocide' yourself Jordan and correctly attribute this misuse of the English language for partisan purposes to others. For that I am extremely grateful. Thank you. I expected nothing less.

Would others - blatantly and often violently antisemitic others - able to understand and learn from your own humane and decent approach. So thank you again, Jordan, and I am sure you bring a voice of clarity and decency to those who advocate a humane approach to the Palestinian cause and a just solution acceptable to all (well, at least to all who genuinely want peace!). As a fellow Catholic - may God richly bless you and all your family.

You aren't using the definition of genocide outlined by international law, written in response to attrocities the Nazis and many others have committed, so you can have a semantic excuse to avoid it. Read a book.

If genocide is inappropriate perhaps you’d agree that the phrase “mass murder” is more accurate?

Semantics come easily to you as a means of deflection.
